39th Design Automation Conference Provides Learning and Networking Opportunities for Financial Community

What: The 39th Design Automation Conference (DAC)-the premier annual event for the electronic design automation (EDA) industry, focusing on the design of cutting-edge semiconductors and electronic products.

Who: More than 200 global EDA, semiconductor and embedded systems companies that will be exhibiting and presenting more than 160 technical papers on new technologies and design methodologies. Attendees include worldwide top-level executives, developers, engineers, university researchers and investors.

  • Panel: Wall Street Evaluates EDA - Tuesday, June 11th, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Auditorium B
    Aart de Geus, CEO of Synopsys, will moderate a discussion between the constituencies who play a role in shaping Wall Street's opinion of EDA: financial analysts, portfolio managers, venture capitalists, CEOs and the press.

  • Introduction to Chips and EDA for a General Audience - Monday, June 10th, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Room 288
    Intended for the non-technical and business-focused attendees at DAC, Introduction to Chips and EDA for a General Audience is a basic, hands-on explanation of how chips are designed using EDA tools.

  • EDA Business Forum - Tuesday, June 11th, 12:00 p.m. - 1:50 p.m., Room 271-272
    The sixth-annual EDA Business Forum at DAC is an exclusive luncheon event for financial and market analysts, editors, venture capitalists, and executives. The event-Leveraging Change to Build Momentum in EDA-is moderated by Lucio Lanza of Lanza techVentures and features a panel of industry luminaries who will discuss how to leverage recent developments to find new avenues of growth and opportunity for the industry. They will focus on recent positive attention from the world's capital markets, shifting design technologies and business models, and changes in semiconductor manufacturing.

  • Panel: Knowing your exit strategy: Acquisition vs. IPO - Monday, June 10th 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., DAC Pavilion - Booth #1035
    Erach Desai, principal, Desaisive Technology Research, moderates a panel with Penny Herscher, CEO, Simplex Solutions and Mike Tsai, CEO, Axis Systems to explore the strategies behind an emerging technology company's battles to position itself for a successful IPO. Panelists will discuss what drives a company's direction toward an IPO or an acquisition.
